After the initial observation and outreach support, if a child is still experiencing difficulties, the school may apply to the Inclusion panel for a PLC placement. If a placement is awarded the child may attend Bentley High Street Primary school for approximately 12 weeks. Whenever possible we try to give the child the placement in their own setting.
Whilst in placement the child receives a high level of support from one of our Specialist Behaviour Support workers. Strategies that are successful with the child are shared with the child’s school. Links with the school are maintained throughout the placement if they attend Bentley and the PLC team support the child with their re-integration back into their own school at the end of the twelve weeks. However, if the placement takes place in the child’s school, staff are asked to shadow our worker and have regular reviews of the progress being made and strategies that need to continue once the placement has come to an end.
