Why is the Earth so angry?
This term we will be learning about extreme types of weather focusing on volcanoes and earthquakes.
We will develop the following geography skills during our topic:
- Locate the world’s countries, using maps to focus on Europe (including the location of Russia) and North and South America, concentrating on their environmental regions, key physical and human characteristics, countries, and major cities.
- Understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of the United Kingdom, a region in a European country, and a region in North or South America.
- Use maps, atlases, globes and digital/computer mapping to locate countries and describe features studied.
- Physical geography including climate zones, biomes, vegetarian belts, rivers, mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes and the water cycle.
Children’s questions include; What is a volcano? Why do volcanoes erupt? How tall are volcanoes? Where are volcanoes? How many volcanoes are there? How do you get lava? How hot is lava?
