Find a range of toys with different colours for your child to sort. If you haven't got coloured paper, use coloured scarves, plates or boxes. Stick to only 3 or 4 colours so as not to overwhelm your child. This activity encourages early maths skills as they learn to sort by colour or even shape and size. You can also talk about big and little and

count the objects too. You could even go on a colour hunt around the house.
