Introduce poem of how we write the number 7. Model air writing the number 7. Draw number block 7 and write everything we know – one more, one less, 0+7=7, 1+6=7 etc.
Challenge: Draw a picture of the numberblock 7. Can you write the number 7 using the number poem?
Miss Gray/Stringer have some number cards. Pick a number ie: 3 – model counting out 3 blocks. What is one more? One less? Chn given the numbers 1 – 7 on cards and loose parts. Ask them to show you fewer, the same or more than the number they choose.
Challenge: Upload a photo of you matching the correct numeral to the quantity. What is one more than 7? One less than 7?
How many colours do you see in a rainbow? Can you paint a rainbow with 7 colours? Can you make rainbows using objects around the chouse/classroom? How many colours did you use?
Challenge: Upload photos of your rainbow. Have you used 7 colours? How can you check you have the right amount?
Provide loose parts in learning circles and some ten frames. Ask the children to count items onto the 10 frames. How many do they have? Can they see without counting? What is one more? One less?
Challenge: Upload a photo of you counting out 7 items onto your tens frame. Can you answer the challenge question?
In learning circles use the numicon to investigate which smaller numbers combine to make exactly 7. Check by sitting them on top of the whole number. Is there more than one combination? Which number has the most combinations?
