Welcome back!

I hope that you have all had a good summer.

It was great to come back and see everybody, staff and students, looking so refreshed and keen to get teaching and learning started again.

Please can we remind you about the importance of attendance. Children learn best when they have high attendance, get to school on time, take a full part in lessons and are proud of their achievements. We will all be working hard on this, and I would ask for your support with attendance, punctuality and behaviour.

There have been some changes to our holiday policies which you were informed about last term. Please contact the school office if you wish for further information.

This year, the school is having a big focus on reading and encouraging reading for pleasure. Therefore our school planners have now changed to reading journals. We are trying to encourage families to read at least 3 times a week and to record this in their books. They do not always need to read their reading book. It can be anything as long as they have the opportunity to read with an adult. Teachers will be signing journals each week and we urge parents and carers to support us by signing this too. We will also include useful information about spellings and phonics.

We have a number of fun family learning activities planned in for this term. We hope that you will be able to attend. Details of these events can be found here

I am delighted to be leading the school and look forward to meeting you all at some stage.

Miss Austwick
