In English this week, our new unit is a recount. Our recount this week will be in the form on a newspaper article, specifically on the flooding Bentley experience in the past few years.
In Maths, this week our focus continues to be fractions. We start with equivalent fractions, before moving on the change between mixed numbers and improper fractions. Finally, on Friday will be our problem solving lesson.
In Reading Comprehension this week, we start a new book: The Sleeper and the Spindle. A retelling of the sleeping beauty fairy tale but from different character perspectives. This week our focus will be understanding inferences from illustrations.
Wider Curriculum, this week we will complete our D&T module left over from Spring. Our focus is on Mayan chocolate. We will study the history of Mayan chocolate, how it was and is produced as well as looking at how Chocolate can be rated. At the end of the week will be making some Mayan chocolate and deciding how it can be improved further!
You will also find resources for our Jigsaw lesson this week. Please remember to continue to practice your spellings and read at home as often as possible.
We hope you have a great week and a wonderful start to term.
The Year 5 team.
