In English this week, we begin our new unit of writing. We will be beginning to complete a set of instructions explaining to someone, how to complete an archaeological dig. This will involve studying the key features of an archaeological dig before planning our instructions ensuring we are familiar with all the correct equipment needed.
In Maths, this week our focus is to finish our unit on fractions. We start with how to find fractions of amount before moving on to a different section of maths – decimal numbers. We will look at decimal numbers up to two decimal places and decimals as fractions.
In Reading Comprehension this week, we continue our book: The Sleeper and the Spindle. A retelling of the sleeping beauty fairy tale but from different character perspectives. This week our focus will be understanding inferences from illustrations.
Wider Curriculum – this week we continue our Summer history focus – The Anglo Saxons. We begin by investigating one of the great Anglo-Saxon kinds – Alfred the Great, was he really that great? After we investigate the most successful archaeological dig about the Saxons Sutton-Hoo. Finally, we will complete our timeline of Saxon events before finishing the week with our Anglo-Saxon day.
