In English this week, we will be completing our narrative retelling of the battle of Edington, building on the work we have completed in our online learning in the past week of isolation. We will use this to complete our writing before writing up a polished piece.
In Maths, we will be focused on the study of both metric and imperial measures as well as quick and easy methods to convert between them. After that we will move to recapping an important module in our maths learning; time and timetables. We will then finish our week focused on reasoning and problem solving questions based on the above modules.
In Reading, this week we are moving into a non-fiction piece of writing. We will be reading a text all about the future of space travel: Space Tourism. This week we will practice our fluency using echo reading. We will understand the vocabulary used in different contexts. We will also attempt to use the structure of a non-fiction piece to aid in our summarizing.
Wider Curriculum – This week is computing. The focus will be on the Mars Rover and how it communicates with planet earth. To understand this we will investigate how the Rover has developed throughout time, before moving on to complicated binary algorithms to understand how instructions are given, received and followed the Mars Rover.
We hope you have a great week.
The Year 5 team.
