Here we have your work for this week if you are at home.
In reading comprehension we will be studying an animation review based on the Pixar animation ‘For the Birds’. You will be answering a variety of different comprehension style questions.
In English this week, we will be starting our new unit of writing: Persuasive leaflets. We will be aiming to complete this over two weeks. Our first lesson involves looking at all of the features which contribute to an effective piece of persuasive writing. After, on Wednesday and Thursday, we will focus on one of our features in particular, the use of figurative language to aid description, specifically, similes, metaphors and personification.
In maths, our focus is Multiplication. We start week studying how to accurately complete multiplications. Firstly, involving multiplying a 2/3/4-digit number by one digit. After, we will move on to harder multiplication, multiplying 2/3 and 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers.
Wider Curriculum – This week we will be doing RE. This term’s big question is ‘If God is everywhere, why go to a place of worship?’. We will start the week thinking about what worship is, and looking at where Christians worship. We will then look at where Hindus and Jews worship, before consider what is more important, the people or the place? We will then look at how Christians shape their place of worship before looking at how Jewish people shape theirs.
Please continue to practice your spellings and read at home as often as possible. There are also 3 handwriting sheets, which practice our spellings list. Remember, try to complete a PE activity on Wednesday afternoon and there are also resources for a Jigsaw lesson on Friday.
We hope you have a great week.
Love, the Year 5 team
