Here we have your work for this week if you are at home.
In Reading, you will be comparing how the author and the illustrator create the feeling of a calm life and a busy life within our book ‘Here We Are’. The following day, you will think of your own descriptive language for each of these pages. You will then be thinking about the message within the book; you will need to write a letter of advice to your future self, and also develop ideas of how you can be kind to others. Now we have completed the book ‘Here We Are’, can you write a blurb for it?
In English, you will be writing your final draft of the letter using all the edited and revised sections you did last week. Make sure you focus on the presentation of your letter as it will be getting sent to your special person, once completed! Next, you will be recording yourself reading your letter, which will need to be planned first, using the planning sheet provided. Finally, there is an extended write to complete using the image as a stimulus. There is a story starter to help you get going!
In maths, we are focused on the two primary operations, addition and subtraction. We start the week focused on practicing the Year 4 objective of four-digit number addition and subtraction before moving on to numbers up to 7 digits long – the Year 5 objective!
In topic, we are continuing with art. You will be completing the final stage of planning your collage before moving onto creating your final, perfected piece which will be put up on display. At the end of the week, you will evaluate your collage and the learning you undertook whilst creating it.
Have a wonderful week!
Love, the Year 5 team
