Here we have your work for this week if you are at home.
At school this week, we are having an assessment week therefore you will find that there is slightly less English and maths work to complete whilst you are at home. It is important that you still carry out the tasks set, as it will support you in the tasks we will be setting next week.
For this week’s reading, we move onto the next Harry Potter book, the Chamber of Secrets. We will focus on how we can summarise different parts of a story.
In English for the next couple of weeks, we will be using the John Lewis advert ‘Man on the Moon’ as a stimulus to write a diary extract from the perspective of the old man. This week, you will be watching the video, thinking about the different emotions the old man is going through, writing a checklist of what a good diary needs and completing a graphic organiser to organiser your ideas to support next weeks writing.
In extended write, using a photograph as a stimulus you will be writing a diary extract on your experience. On Tuesday, using prompts and support materials, we would like you to edit and improve your diary extract.
In maths, we start out module looking at multiplication. This week our focus is on multiples and factors as well as finding common multiples and factors of each.
Topic: This week our wider curriculum subject this week is French. At the start of the week, you will be using adjectives to describe monster, focusing on whether the noun is masculine or feminine, and singular or plural. Later in the week you will be using metaphors to write a poem about the sun or moon, learning to describe and compare planets in our solar system, before finishing the week creating questions and answers about an alien planet.
Please continue to practice your spellings and read three times per week (please remember to sign your planner and bring it into to school as much as possible). Remember, you will be entered into the raffle if you do this!
We hope you have a great week.
Love, the Year 5 team
