Here we have your work for this week if you are at home.
In Reading this week, we are once again looking at the book The Undefeated, as we feel this ties in nicely with Black History Month. We would like you to think about the vocabulary, the font and the illustrations that the author and the illustrator have throughout the book. At the end of the week, we would like to complete a book review, would you recommend this book to a friend?
In English, we will be, from Tuesday starting our new module on poetry. This week we start by having a study of what makes a good poem. After, we will then study in depth some good example of poetry all about the Milky Way. Finally, we will go into depth on figurative language – a key component of good poetry!
In Maths, we will start the week learning how to round to estimate and approximate. We will then move on to looking at inverse operations, focusing on addition and subtraction operations only. From Wednesday, we will learn how to solve multistep addition and subtraction problems. Throughout the week, we will work on our problem solving and reasoning skills.
In topic, this week we begin our history module on the Space. We start with studying a timeline of all they key events of Space Travel. After we will then go into depth about what the Space Race was. Next we investigate the first man on the moon and why some people think it was a hoax. Lastly, an in depth study of an astronaut : Neil Armstrong!
Have a wonderful week!
Love, the Year 5 team
