In reading comprehension we will be studying a small section of the book Peter Pan. We will be focused on how can different words dramatically change the context and meaning of a piece of text as well as using our inference skills to decide on the meaning of certain phrases.
In English this week, our focus will be on writing a descriptive piece from limited stimulus. The picture ‘The Old Railroad’ will provide ideas and allow you really stretch your imagination for it got there, as well as focusing on the characters who use it and their conversations.
In maths, we will be starting our learning block about fractions. We start looking at equivalent fractions, before moving onto fractions which are greater than 1. After a combination of improper fractions and mixed numbers and then converting between the both, before finishing the week with our problem solving lesson. Out timestable focus for the week is the 8s.
Wider Curriculum – this week our focus is computing. Specifically search engines. We start our unit looking at how search engines are used. How do they work? Are they always accurate? Is some of the information found false? After, we will do an in depth look at how a lot of the imagery and documentation online can be falsified. Finally, we will decide which is the best search engine, and begin to understand the process of how search engines rank results – with a focus of making Bentley High Streets website move closer to the top!
Please continue to practice your spellings and read at home as often as possible. There are also 3 handwriting sheets, which practice our spellings list. Remember, try to complete a PE activity on Wednesday afternoon, this week the focus is shooting techniques in basketball as well as some daily exercise, taken from the Active Fusion sheets. There is also resources for a Jigsaw lesson on Friday.
