Thrive

At Bentley High Street we embrace The Thrive Approach to improve and support children’s personal development, their mental health and ultimately ensuring they are ready to learn. It supports their emotional and social development and helps them feel happy and secure, able to enjoy friendships, relate well to others and be ready and able to learn. It supports them in becoming more self-assured, capable and adaptable. It can also address any troubling behaviours providing a firm foundation for academic attainment.

Assessment:

We use a screening tool and activity planning resource called Thrive-Online. This allows us to check that children are working appropriately for their age and to develop the whole group with activities that ensure that they are as emotionally and socially supported as they can be. Using Thrive-Online, we also identify any children in need of extra support.

As a result of THRIVE, our children can:

  • Demonstrate good manners and show respect to others.
  • Work cooperatively, sharing ideas and listening carefully to one another.
  • Show readiness to learn and engage positively in lessons.
  • Think carefully before reacting when emotions run high.
  • Manage their emotions in a calm and appropriate way.
  • Speak to trusted adults when they have worries or difficult feelings.
  • Show care, kindness, and a willingness to share.
  • Take steps to keep themselves safe.
  • Show empathy and understanding towards others.
  • Tackle challenges with determination and resilience.
  • Handle tricky or unexpected situations with growing confidence.
  • Celebrate their achievements by sharing what makes them proud.
