Welcome to Year 2!
Meet our team...
"Why did the Titanic sink"
Welcome to Spring term in Year 2!
Miss Kidd and Miss Booth are excited to see the amazing learning take place this half term.
As children's SATs are fast appraoching, we want to remind children to read at home at least 3 times a week with an adult and for this to be recorded in their planner. That way they can get raffle tickets for the reading raffle and win books to take home!
SATs boosters and information evening for parents will take place this half term but there will be more information to follow.
Please come and speak to Miss Kidd, Miss Booth or any other adult in the year 2 team if you have any questions or concerns.
We will be researching events that have happened beyond our living memory which have had a significant impact nationally and globally. We will use an atlas to look at the titanics jounrey and create our own questions to hopefully find the answer to. We use different historical sources to gain new knowledge and an understanding of what happened in the disaster. By doing this we will be able to increase our historical vocabulary and identify different ways that the past is represented.
We will research different animals and understand that they have offspring. Our science learning will be supported by a trip to The Deep (18th March) to find out more about animals and their basic needs of survival.
SMSC is so important to us in year 2 and we will be learning all about ourselves and others with the help of Jigsaw Jo. This term we will be learning about setting challenges, dreams and goals and discussing the steps we need to achieve and how this makes us feel. We will link this to different religions (Christianity and Judaism) and make comparisons of sacred times.
For both classes, children will need their PE kits on a Monday
18th March - The Deep
Children will be given home learning every fortnight. It will either be a English, Maths or Topic activity. Please come and speak to a member of the year 2 term if you have any questions, need support/resources or any other problems.
